Navigating Fears

Image
2befearless is boldly being yourself! Not allowing fear to stop you from achieving your goals. But also not being afraid to admit that you need help. Admit that you do get nervous and worry at times. How you tackle them and move forward is 2befearless! When we were little, the majority of us probably were scared of monsters, the boogie man or the dark. But, as we get older, we worry that we may not succeed, that we won't be able to protect our family the way we desire or stay up all night worrying about our children. We may not believe it or think about it as much as we get older, but we all have something to overcome. It's our strong faith that keeps us going and allow us to know that we will be okay.  Now we are older and have a better understanding on how to navigate our thoughts. But, how do we help our children to do the same? So for Christmas, we bought my son a twin Spider-man bed. With marvel sheets and a cool Spider-man comforter to go with it and we just knew it was...

Stages Of Life

Image
As much as we wish it did, parenthood does not come with a rule book! If you are a parent, God made you equipped for it, so trust that you are doing right by your children. After listening to a sermon from my pastor, I decided to share what I learned. I realized that our parenthood is based on the stage that our children is in. Of course they change as they continue to grow and learn new things. As they change, we need to change! What worked when they were little, will not fly as they get older.                                                          Ages 0-5 - (The Discipline Years.) During this age, we should be teaching our children obedience. All direction should be straight forward and to the point. I’m not going to lie, this is something I struggled with and still do at times. Being the nice guy all the time, going back on my word or try...

Live Your Dream...Do What You Love

Image
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" has always been my favorite scripture. My mother always taught me that the sky is the limit, but with Him is how we can achieve our potential. It wasn't until my junior year of college that I realized how truly fearless I can be. God spoke to me to instill a clear vision for my life...a life of FEARLESSNESS in Him that I could have never imagined.  2befearless is a lifestyle brand - a brand that serves a community of confident and courageous believers who inspire others to embrace and overcome fear. For those who don't know, I served as a class queen at Morgan State University and ran for Miss Morgan on the platform...FEARLESS. Since then, that word has stuck to me. The dream to continue to mold Fearless into something bigger than myself never died. Hint. This blog! :) This blog was just a start after graduating college in 2015. God kept revealing all these great ideas to me and at first I felt l...

FOREVER A STUDENT...

Image
The month of September is a great one for my family! I got married on September 3rd and gave birth to my son just 17days later on September 20th. I have been holding both titles now for 4yrs and still in shock about how fast it is going. Both are two major roles that God has blessed me with. Like I always say...it is not easy, but worth it! Reminiscing back to the days when Kendall and I first began our journey as a couple and then parents, I realized that we have come a long way! A lot of ups, downs and lessons learned. Often, women ask "How do you balance it all? Being a wife, having a career and then throwing a child in the mix!" But I've come to realize that it's not about balance. It's about prioritizing and focusing on the growth. Nothing is ever perfect and easy. It takes work and it is important to be willing to change where it is necessary. Since it has been four years, I've decided to name four things I have learned as a wife and four things I have l...

Wife, Mother and now Teacher???

Image
I am sure that everyone can agree that 2020 has be one craaaazy year! With everything going on, we have to adjust to this new way of living. With schools shutting down, parents became teachers and we are now starting another academic school year. I'm not going to lie...when this first happened, I was truly annoyed. How can schools expect working parents to be on top of kids' schoolwork? Obviously after a while, you come to realize that keeping your child home was the best option to keep them safe and healthy. Thank God Kendall and I were able to come up with a schedule and rotate days where someone was home with Mason while the other person was at work.  If you follow my instagram page, you have seen a few things that I have been doing with Mason while home. It is important that he continues to get the education he would have received if he was still going to preschool. I'm sure all parents can agree, it's not easy! If we wanted to be teachers, we would have done that! ...

I Am A Black Woman

I am a black woman.  I am strong, intelligent and independent.  But, I also desire to be loved. I am a black woman. I am beautiful, loving and caring.  But, I also want to be treated with respect.  I am a black woman.  I am fearless, a nurturer and selfless. But, I also want to be reminded of how remarkable I am.  I am a black woman.  A woman of color, a hardworking, soft and dreaming woman.  I want to and need to be treated fairly. I want to and need to feel protected and safe. I am a black woman, a black wife, a black mother and want to see my black family succeed!  I am a black woman.  Do my curves, hips, braids and stylish clothes bother you? Does it cause me to be a threat or cause you to disrespect me for lack of better words? Well, tell me. Tell me why Karen gets surgery to look like me? Oh, but its wrong for me to naturally look the way I look? Wrong for my culture to embrace it's own style? When I look in the mirror I see flawle...

Boy Mom

Image
Who would have known that your 3yr old son could be your best friend?! Being a mother truly brings so much joy to my heart. Each and every day, I am reminded of the great reward of being someone's mother. Sure, it causes you to be tired, it brings you stress at times and worry, but I would not trade it for anything else! My son has taught me to be patient, he has challenged me to become a better person and work even harder. I am the first example of a woman he sees and I want him to know that we are strong, caring, nurturing and hard working. Being a "boy mom" is so much fun! The energy that Mason brings everyday is so amazing. He definitely keeps me on my toes and keeps me moving even when I don't feel like getting out of bed. Especially since he loves to wake up between 6:30-7am on the weekends. lol It is something about that mother/son bond that is so untouchable. You better not cross me because my son will come for you! lol He always knows when I am in need for ...

Keep Standing

Image
Do you feel like giving up sometimes? Just runaway and never have to deal with work, people or things ever again? Yeah, sometimes, I just want to disappear too! Life is rough and isn't supposed to be easy, but you have to keep encouraging yourself to do better. There will always be hurdles that we have to get over and mountains to climb. I like my current job and what I do, but I believe I deserve better and higher pay! Today I took a leap and applied to multiple positions outside of the current government agency I work for. For those who know me, know that I have been working for the same agency since I was 17 yrs. old. So applying elsewhere is a big leap for me! But, it was God who gave me the courage to do so. You have to believe in order to see things happen. But more importantly, remember that Faith without Work is Dead! You have to put in the work, believe that it will happen and it will. Take Fearless for example! I learned a quick lesson last week. I thought I was...

God’s Plan

Image
Sometimes we question things in our lives over and over again. “Why this? Why that? But what if....?” But what we SHOULD be doing is trusting God’s plan for our lives. He brings us to places that we may not understand, but know it will work out in the end. Kendall was offered an engineering job in Newport News, VA back in December. This is something we have been constantly praying for, but when it came, I got scared. Kept thinking of those “what if”questions. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find a job and that we wouldn’t like the new state. Kendall accepted the job and moved to Virginia in January. We planned to be a part for two months. Him there while me and Mason was still home in Baltimore to ensure we had enough transition time. TO ALL MY SINGLE MOTHERS OUT THERE, I RESPECT YOU EVEN MORE NOW THAN EVER. I always knew women could do it ALL. But Lord knows, I missed my husband. Not only because of the obvious reasons, but he’s a huge help with raising our son and doin...

Got Confidence?

Image
Self love is very important. If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of anyone else. I decided this year, I will take better care of myself. With a career, husband and son, it’s very easy to forget to do things you like to do and things for your own personal growth. I decided that I will always have my hair slaying, keep up with my nails and treat myself to new clothes, shoes or something I just personally want every once in a while! I started to work out towards the end of last year and forgot how much I actually love doing it. Now it’s a daily routine. My best friend, Rachel took me to a Zumba class and that is when I had an epiphany! I love to workout, I love to dance and I love to feel good. After giving birth to Mason, I started to feel down about my body. I didn’t like the stretch marks, and couldn’t stand the weight that I gained. I would randomly cry when I feel like I wasn’t where I wanted to be as far as appearance. One day in Zumba class, I almost cried. I re...

She is intelligent. She is strong. She is mighty. She is independent. She is driven. She is love. She is magnificent. She is curvy. She is petite. She is aggressive. She is intimidating. She is humbled. She is respected. She is thoughtful. She is patient. She is worthy. She is fearless. She is a... “New Year, New....”well y’all know the saying lol

Image
Today is January, 2018. We are now four days into the new year! HAPPY NEW YEAR YALLLL! I hope everyone is ready to tackle everything this year has to bring. 2018 is my year to be focus! I want to keep up with my health, continue to learn new things to cook for my family, teach Mason more and more and grow even stronger with my husband. God is so amazing and He never lets you know what is coming, but you can always feel His presence in the air. I know that He will continue to open doors for me and my family and I cannot wait to see what is behind those doors. It takes a sound mind and a fearless heart to be ready for what is in store for you. It’s one thing to pray for something and another to prepare for something. It is important that we pray for good things to come, but you have to do work too. It’s like when you have a test coming up. It is important that you study and then pray that God will help you to remember and understand  the material to pass the test. For Christmas, I go...

Christmas 2017

Image
Christmas has come and gone that quick! But it was a great holiday. For those who know me, know that I go to Virginia every year for Christmas. But this year, it was our turn to spend Christmas in Baltimore with Kendall’s side of the family. I was a little nervous since I never had a Christmas without my side of the family and it was going to be something new. But it was great. We played games, talked, open gifts and just enjoyed everyone’s company. On Christmas Eve, we went to a friend of ours house for brunch which was absolutely wonderful. The food was so good. Last year, Mason was only 3 months when Christmas came around, but this year, he was 15 months. Things were so much more exciting. Kendall and I got him a paw patrol four wheeler and a paw patrol microphone. He loved them! He rides around on that four wheeler like he is grown. Lol He amazes me so much when he picks up on things so fast. When we first took him on a ride, we was holding the button down for him, but the next day...

A Year Already

Image
On September 20th, Mason turned one years old!! I cannot believe my baby boy is now one. The time flew by so fast. This past year I learned so much just from being his mother. I remember Mason being a skinny 6oz 12lb baby and now he's 22lbs and in the 99th percentile in height! He is growing up so fast. I want to thank those who came out to help celebrate his birthday with us! Mason is so freaking spoiled. Smh He has so many toys and so much clothes to choose from now. It makes me so happy when he runs to his room to play. His eyes light up so bright and he just goes for it! Moving from one toy to the next. Lol and he loves books! I think it's safe to say that everyday, Mason does something to make me want to cry. My baby isn't a little baby anymore. Of course he is still growing, learning and still need his mama (I mean he is only one), but he does so much on his own now! I will say that baby's pick up on everything. One of his favorite movies to watch is Trolls a...

Hubby Time

Image
Kendall and I just celebrated our very first marriage anniversary on September 3rd! I can't believe it's been a year already! To be honest, having a baby really makes you lose track of time. Lol This past year has been amazing. We learned so much about each other that only marriage brings out of you. A lot of people would try to tell you that nothing changes besides that signed piece of paper to make things legal. Soooo not true! Lol everything is on a much bigger level. For example, I knew Kendall was a neat freak but now I know it's more serious than I thought. Lol But for real though, he helps pull the best out of me and I pull the best out of him. We could have never made it if we didn't keep God first and honor our marriage first and require others to honor it as well. We made a promise to one another before God on September 3rd and we intend to keep all promises. To celebrate our anniversary, my mother watched Mason over night and we stayed at the new hotel call...

I Guess There's a First Time for Everything

Image
So Mason got sick for the first time. My baby's nose has been running, he has been sneezing, coughing, gagging and just laying around. Of course I was nervous. He has never been sick before and him laying around not wanting to do anything was so weird to watch. Kendall gave him some baby Tylenol and his fever instantly went down. But when he sneezes and it's time to wipe his nose, he has a FIT! Lol He actually ran away from me a few times when he saw me coming with the wipe. lol I feel so bad when he starts hollering, but I feel even worst when I hear him trying to breathe through his nose and can't! He is so little and hopeless. Have you ever thought about how frustrating it could be for a baby at times? They can't communicate how they feel and they have no clue what this new feeling is all about! As a mother, you just have to be patient, pay close attention and try everything until you find out what works. Last night, I gave him a nice warm bath and he started to ...

Just Me and Mase

Image
Last weekend, Kendall went to California. It was just me and Mase, but we had a great time together. Usually, Kendall is the one who gets Mason up in the morning because I'm already at work, but I love being there to get him up. Every morning, he got up around 8:30 and he was full of smiles and excitement every time I entered his room. I would bring him in my room and we would play as he jumped around the bed and talk about who knows what! Lol then we would go in the family room and he would just play and watch his shows until he dropped. Lol For those who follow me on instagram, you know Mason's new favorite movie is The Secret Life of Pets. We probably seen that movie 5000 times by now. Lol But I actually got him to watch two new movies over the weekend. Lol It's very true when people say "You don't know what you have until it's gone." Now Kendall was only gone for a weekend but not having him here to help me with little things was rough. Lol B...

Wedding Bells

Image
July 29, 2017 is the day my sister became a fearless wife. The entire journey leading up to that day was a crazy one, but we made it! The wedding was located at Blues on the Water and even though the rain caused them to move the wedding inside, it was absolutely beautiful! Shardae (my sister) was so calm the day of. I was really surprised because I thought she was going to be losing her mind the entire day. Lol She made me really proud. Of course my girl looked stunning! Her dress was evvvverything! She had Ben crying before he even saw her. Lol BUT THATS HOW IT SHOULD BE! you know he love you if he cry on your wedding day. Lol The reception was a true turn up. It was so nice seeing both families bond together so naturally. It was one big fun party. The groomsmen were great but the bridesmaids were the best! Lol we truly bonded within this year which is awesome. From all the group chats and our Miami trip, we all became friends. Everyone looked great in our purple dresses an...

Fearless Women Turn Into Fearless Wives

Image
It takes a strong and of course fearless woman to support her husband. As a wife, you always have to be ready to come alongside your husband and be the helpmate that God has set us out to be. There are times where things get tough, but always stand by your husband. You have to be willing to let your husband lead, but know when to step up. Just because your husband is the leader of the household, doesn't mean you no longer have a voice. A matter of fact, your voice is very important! You are the voice that cheers your husband on, your the voice that encourages your husband, your the voice that motivates your husband, your the voice that lets your husband know you love him, your the voice that he hears even when your not around. It's powerful in so many ways. You say that men don't listen? Trust me, it's times I feel the same way! lol but they hear you! They just won't show it until later. Kendall and I may not agree all the time, but I always support his decisions....

Proud Mama Moments

Image
So I been dying to take Mason to the park, but I wanted to make sure Kendall was there to enjoy the first time with me. We finally were able to do it this past Saturday and he loved it. He is still a little small for the swing but he could not stop smiling. I can't wait for him to get to the age where he just goes wild at the park. lol We slid down the slide too. It's definitely going to become the norm for us now! As y'all already know, I love experiencing new things and seeing him smile. Going to the park was definitely the highlight of my day. Whenever I can spend chill, quality time with my family, I'm all for it. Just taking a walk alone would've been good enough because I had my boys with me. Moving on....Mason is making major moves. lol He is trying to walk so bad and he is half way there! Yesterday he walked from the family room to the kitchen as I called him. The cutest thing is him sitting down after taking a few steps and start clapping his ha...
